Wednesday Nights Sessions

Information and Gallery of Pictures

Perhaps the Wednesday night jam at the Cannon is not for the feint-hearted?

The atmosphere is friendly enough and new comers are always welcome, but if you're going to take the lead, as opposed to just join in, then be prepared to play as soon as the music stops; for although you'll be offered encouragement ("Oi! You with the banjo, play something!") there are no shortage of takers, and pub silence, while players wait their non-existent turn, is rare. But it's not just a musician thing: many regulars of Newport Pagnell's centrally located pub enjoy the evening's varied music, and folks passing by often linger a while to gaze inside on what they hear outside.

Of course, all this is possible because of those prepared to tame this weekly event, and impossible without the support of a live-music-loving publican who offers at least one pitcher of ale to those taking part; now that's encouragement!
